Call 999 if someone is unconscious, in a confused state, having fits which do not stop, having severe chest pain, breathing difficulties or severe bleeding.

If the surgery is closed and you have a medical problem that is urgent, but not an emergency, please use NHS 111. 

If necessary an out of hours doctor or nurse can assess your condition and provide advice or an emergency appointment.

Out of hours services are often very busy, so please only use this option if your problem cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.

There is a minor injury unit at Shepton Mallet Community Hospital, 01749 341101. This is open seven days a week 8am – 9pm (last patient admitted at 8.30pm).

The Yeatman Minor Injury Unit (Sherborne) is currently closed during the COVID-19 pandemic.

• skin rashes
• teething
• red eye

You can obtain emergency contraception at a pharmacy without needing to see a GP first.
